In 1973, Brenda and Stanley Eyles took a significant step by purchasing Snows Garage on the A38 near Wellington, rebranding it as “Chelston Motors and Petrol.” This marked the beginning of the Chelston brand. By 1986, the business transitioned to Chelston Motorhomes, selling its first motorhome, a Bedford CF Doormobil. The company flourished, securing its first official franchise with Auto-Trail in 1989 and later adding Bürstner to its portfolio, significantly enhancing its prestige.
As the motorhome market grew, the need for more space became apparent, leading to the development of a new Motorhome and Caravan Centre in 1998. Over the years, Chelston established partnerships with notable manufacturers such as Adria, enriching its offerings. The company expanded its facilities in 2018 to enhance customer experience, and by 2019, celebrated 30 years with Auto-Trail, solidifying its reputation as a leading dealership in the South West. Chelston Motorhomes’ journey is a testament to its commitment to growth and prioritising customer satisfaction.
